Diane Albert
Intellectual Property and Related Business Transactions
Diane Albert practices with Peacock Myers, P.C. in the area of intellectual property prosecution and related business transactions and is a licensed member of the New Mexico Bar and the Albuquerque Bar.
Dr. Albert has a B.S. degree in both Mathematics Education and Metallurgical Engineering from The Ohio State University and M.E. and Ph.D. degrees in Materials Science and Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. She received her J.D. from the University of New Mexico School of Law, where she received both the ABA/BNA Award for Excellence in the Study of Intellectual Property Law and the Dean's Award for Outstanding Service to the Law School upon graduation.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Dr. Albert worked as a research scientist at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). While at LANL, she was awarded the Herbert Holloman Fellowship at the National Academy of Engineering in Washington D.C. , where she contributed to the publication "The Impact of Academic Research on Industrial Performance." Prior to her career at LANL, she was awarded a post-doctoral research position, funded by the French Ministère de l'Education, at Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble, France.
Dr. Albert recently received the "Pioneer Award for Women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM)" for Engineering from The Ohio State University in May 2007. She also has been the recipient of the Woman on the Move Award, Rio Grande Chapter of the YWCA and the "Ten Who Made a Difference in northern New Mexico" award from the Santa Fe New Mexican newspaper. She was honored as a Distinguished Alumna of The Ohio State University Department of Materials Science and Engineering in 2002 and is the only three-time winner of the Governor's Award for New Mexico Outstanding Women, winning in 1996, 2000, and 2003.
Dr. Albert is a 25-year member of The Minerals, Metals, and Materials Society (TMS), where she has served on the Education and Accreditation Committees. She has served as a Materials Science & Engineering Program Evaluator for the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc. (ABET) for the past ten years and currently serves on the University of Alabama MSE Department's Industrial Advisory Committee. She was appointed by Governor Richardson to the Board of Commissioners, NM Museum of Space History in Alamogordo , NM in 2003, where she currently serves as Legislative Committee Chair and Vice-Chair. She is a member of the Board of Trustees, Friends of Bandelier National Monument, and the National Council of the National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA) and currently serves as Vice-President of the New Mexico Network of Women in Science and Engineering (NMNWSE).
